It's that time of the year, when the winter blues are setting in, more assignments are due, and more exams are happening. This is when students should shine and show everyone how amazing they are! But, why is it so hard?
Procrastination can be a great tool to getting things done; the stress that it can create is a great motivator. (Check out the Ted Talk "How to Make Stress Your Friend.")
If procastination can help and stress is good for you, then why is studying so hard? Here are some tips that can help you, and get you started on the projects that you really can't (shouldn't) push until the last minute.
Schedule your Study Days:
I have found that when I have a big assignment due, that it's very easy for me to keep finding anything else to do to avoid it. But, if I take the time to write out what I need to do each day, it makes it easier to stick to it and get it done. Find what works for you and your schedule!
Study with Friends:
Finding others to keep you accountable will help keep you focused and you can have a lot of fun, too! It's even better if you can find people who are in your class to study with. But, make sure that the friends you pick will help you and not distract you!
Make a List:
Whether this be a grocery list, a study list, a thought list, or any other kind of list, these can help you clear your head and keep you on track. Try carrying index cards around (or use your phone) and whenever you think of something, write it down! Making lists can help you keep track of what you need to do, so that you don't forget all those great ideas that you have and actually get them done.
Reward Yourself!
When you are finished with the assignments/projects/other stuff that you wrote down on those lists and on your study days, reward yourself! Go grab a coffee, hop on social media, go for a walk, or turn on your favorite Netflix show. It's important that you take the time to recognize what you've achieved, or else it's going to be harder to motivate yourself next time.
I would love to hear about what worked for you, and any tips that you have! Email me at bellavieblog2019@gmail.com, until then, "Happy Studying!"
