Taking Art to a Whole New Level...

...in regards to fire safety. Kate Hinkley, of Petoskey, MI, is quite literally "playing with fire," when it comes to her artwork. When Kate began her wood burning projects, in December of 2018, she had no idea that she would take this passion with her into the new year. Beginning with small pieces of wood with college logos on them, she quickly graduated to more advanced designs! In this "Spotlight" post, I am excited to share her story of inspiration, with you, as well as give you a sneak peek to some of her latest projects.

It all started when Kate went home for Christmas break, and her creative gears started turning. Looking to Pinterest for inspiration, she saw something that caught her eye, wood burning. Now, Kate's grandma is an avid wood burner; she has decorated every corner of every window and door in her house with birds and other wildlife, so professional guidance was easy to get to.

While there was a huge learning curve, the progress has been exponential; she is a natural! She began collecting as much wood that she possibly could and began working on her new found passion; her family and friends were amazed and started supporting her with new equipment, as well as making suggestions for what she should make next!

After only a month, these projects have gotten more and more intricate and continue to become more beautiful; pictured below, are some of Kate's latest endeavors.
